NearVision CK Technology
NearVision CK with LightTouch: the CK Evolution That's a Revolution

With over 150,000 completed treatments, NearVisionSM CK® is the #1 non-laser refractive procedure in the US. And with the recent introduction of the LightTouch technique, this safe approach to helping patients improve their near vision is even better. Traditionally, physicians using CK compressed the cornea as radiofrequency energy was delivered. Using the LightTouch technique, the amount of compression is greatly reduced or eliminated. This reduction in compression allows the same amount of RF energy to have a greater effect. More importantly, the LightTouch technique alleviates the corneal stretching associated with compression, so you'll get more repeatable results.

"One of the most exciting aspects of this technique is that it provides the same post-op 'wow factor' that LASIK patients experience ... The initial response is very robust, with no apparent loss of stability compared to conventional CK ... It reduces the need for balancing spots and improves patient satisfaction."

— Rick Milne, MD

The Viewpoint CK System The ViewPoint® CK System is compact and portable, so the procedure can be performed in your office. The treatment only takes about three minutes, and since the ViewPoint CK System can be acquired for a fraction of the cost of laser surgery or other refractive equipment, it's an affordable addition to your successful practice.

How It Works

NearVision CK applies radio waves in a circular pattern on the outer cornea to shrink small areas of collagen. This shrinking pattern creates a constrictive band (like the tightening of a belt) increasing the overall curvature of the cornea to bring near vision back into focus. When the cornea is compressed, it causes a mechanical stretching effect on the corneal fibers that resists the natural tendency of the tissue being drawn toward the pulse of RF energy. Using the LightTouch technique, the amount of compression is greatly reduced or eliminated. In preliminary findings, this low-compression technique may produce more robust results by minimizing the corneal stretching associated with the standard CK technique.

How NearVision CK Works

Proven Results for the Plano Presbyope

NearVision CK is the only FDA-approved treatment for improving near vision in presbyopic patients, and it’s producing some impressive results. Data collected 12 months after NearVision CK was performed demonstrated that 98 percent of patients could read J5 (newspaper-sized print) and 87 percent of patients see 20/20 in the distance and also could read (phonebook-sized print) J3 binocularly. No refractive surgical technique can stop the eye’s natural aging process, but the NearVision CK treatment has been shown to produce stable results for months or years after the treatment.
